When he was a child, Sasuke witnessed the murder of his entire family at the hands of his older brother Itachi, who was revealed later to have done so to protect the village from a coup d'état that the Uchiha planned. Since that day, Sasuke swore to take revenge on his brother and dedicated his life to becoming stronger and avenging his family. Throughout the series, Sasuke experiences many ups and downs in his quest for revenge, including teaming up with Tobi and joining the organization of evil ninja known as Akatsuki. Eventually, he realizes the truth about his brother and forgives him before pledging to protect the Hidden Leaf Village as a loyal ninja.
